The Acuario Group story began in 1976 when
gynaecologist and obstetrician Dr Pedro Enguix
left the public health service to open in Valencia one
of the first family planning clinics in Spain. The
clinic was dedicated to all areas relating to pregnancy
and childbirth. A great team of professionals
formed around him who worked and continue working on the practice
and promotion of alternative procedures which give women
the opportunity to regain control of their own reproduction
and allow for their medical needs to be met in more comfortable
and human surroundings.
The criteria that had governed the group’s work with regards
to women’s health were, In the mid 90s, extended to groups
of all ages and to the opposite sex. Acuario also extended its
provision by developing co-ordinated interdisciplinary groups
of different specialists who approach health from a holistic
perspective.
The Acuario Group now has two centres: a clinic in Valencia
and a hospital with a maternity unit in Beniarbeig (Alicante).
Over both centres, almost 100 people including health professionals
and support staff cover 29 different medical specialisms.
The common aim for Acuario professionals is to offer a high
quality service based on a humanistic approach to medicine.
